Loewe is one of the fastest-rising names in resale fakes, and the Puzzle most of all, with the Hammock next. It is also one of the harder houses to check, because there is no public serial lookup and no consumer verification tool. Any site claiming an official Loewe lookup is a scam. So this comes down to craft more than codes.
The Anagram
The four interlocking L's must be identical in weight, size, and spacing, and centered. Asymmetry, thick-to-thin variation, or an off-center mark is the most common tell. On the wordmark, the O is not a perfect circle, it has slightly pointed ends, a subtle football shape, and a perfectly round O is a known tell. That last detail is lower confidence, so check it on close photos rather than treating it as decisive.
The leather, by feel
Authentic Nappa calfskin is exceptionally soft, supple, fine-grained, and slightly heavy. Papery, stiff, or plasticky leather, or an oversized uniform grain, points the other way. This one is feel-based, so weigh it as craft judgment rather than a hard rule, and let it support the harder markers instead of standing alone.
The Puzzle construction
On the Puzzle the geometric panels fit with precision, with no gaps, overlaps, or misaligned edges, and the seam lines between them are thick, bold, and clearly defined. Thin seam lines that fade into the leather are a tell, and the knotted strap attachments should be tight and identical on both sides.
Hardware and the interior tag
On metal hardware the Anagram is deeply, precisely engraved and fully fills the metal square, so a logo floating with wide margins is a flag, and the zips are Lampo or Riri. The interior leather tab reads LOEWE over Made in Spain over the serial, with defined corners, and the serial is debossed into the leather rather than printed. Mainline handbags are Made in Spain, so a non-Spain origin on a current bag is a strong flag. There is no Loewe authenticity card, so its absence is not a flag.
When to call in a pro
Much of Loewe authentication is craft judgment, the leather hand, the stamp feel, the Anagram proportions, none of which you can verify against a database, and the serial cannot be looked up to prove a bag. For a costly Puzzle or Hammock, or before selling or insuring, have a professional authenticator examine it in person.
Sources
Drawn from authentication services and reseller guides, including Fashionica, TheRealReal, and Legitique, in June 2026. The softer markers, the football O and the delicate stamp depth, rest on a single strong source plus community consensus, so we show them as points to verify on photos, not binary tells.
