The Chanel Boy is a structured shoulder flap bag introduced by Karl Lagerfeld for the Fall/Winter 2011 collection, named after Coco Chanel's love Boy Capel. It trades the house's soft curves for a boxier, more androgynous silhouette, with a wide quilted or embossed body and a heavy chain-and-leather strap. Its signature is the boy-style push-lock clasp on the front, a chunky rectangular latch that replaced the classic CC turn-lock. Lagerfeld drew on a cartridge bag, the kind hunters use to carry ammunition, for a boxier, more masculine shape with bold hardware, a deliberate contrast to the soft Classic Flap.
