Longchamp
The Longchamp story
A French family house that started in pipes and tobacco, then folded a nylon tote into a travel staple.
Paris, 1948. Jean Cassegrain founded Longchamp, first making leather-covered smoking pipes before moving into leather goods.
Le Pliage, 1993. Its foldable nylon tote, named for the French word for folding, drew on origami to pack flat and became the house signature.
Still family-run. The Cassegrain family has run the house since founding, unusual for a maison of its scale.
