The Neverfull and the Speedy are the two bags most people choose between for their first Louis Vuitton. Both are coated monogram canvas, both are workhorses, and both hold up unusually well secondhand. The decision really comes down to shape, not price.
What each lists for
On current premium-resale listings, the Neverfull MM has a median asking price around $1,245 and the PM around $1,185. The Speedy 30 lists around $1,623 and the Speedy 25 around $1,520. These are asking prices from our tracking of live listings in June 2026, not confirmed sales, and they describe the market rather than appraise any single bag.
The Speedy lists a little higher
Size for size, the Speedy runs a few hundred dollars above the Neverfull. It is not a big gap, but the Speedy carries a small premium for its structured, classic shape. The Neverfull is the slightly more affordable way into the monogram, and the more common one on resale, so you will see more colors and conditions to choose from.
Two genuinely different bags
This is the real decision. The Neverfull is an open tote: no zip, two long handles, and a wide mouth you can reach straight into. It is the casual everyday workhorse, easy to overfill. The Speedy is a structured, zip-top shape, the classic doctor-bag silhouette, more polished and more secure, carried in the hand (the Bandoulière version adds a shoulder strap). One is relaxed and roomy, the other tidy and classic.
So which one
If you want an open, throw-it-all-in tote for daily life, the Neverfull earns its keep. If you want a structured, zip-closed classic that reads a little more put-together, the Speedy is the one. That is our read, not a rule, since this is a style call as much as anything. Either way, the monogram canvas is the reason both bags survive years of daily use and still resell well.
