The Gucci GG Marmont, the Louis Vuitton Neverfull, and the Louis Vuitton Speedy are three of the bags people choose between for their first real designer piece. On resale they land in the same price band, so price is not the deciding factor. What you carry and how you live is.
What they cost
On current premium-resale listings, the Marmont in the small size has a median asking price around $911, the Neverfull MM around $1,245, and the Speedy 30 around $1,623. These are asking prices from our tracking of live listings in June 2026, not confirmed sales. The Speedy lists highest and the Marmont lowest, but all three sit close enough that price should not pick the winner.
What actually fits
This is where they split. The Neverfull is a large open tote that swallows a laptop, a change of clothes, the daily everything. The Speedy 30 is a structured, zip-top handheld that holds a day's essentials but not a laptop. The Marmont small is a shoulder or crossbody bag built for the going-out load: phone, cards, a lipstick. Three very different capacities for roughly the same money.
How they wear
The two Louis Vuitton bags are coated monogram canvas, which is close to bulletproof: it shrugs off rain and years of daily use, which is a big reason both resell so well. The Marmont is quilted matelassé leather, prettier and softer, but more prone to corner wear and to the chain marking the leather over time. If you are hard on bags, the canvas wins.
Who each one suits
The Neverfull is the everyday workhorse, the commuter and the parent and the carry-it-all. The Speedy is the classic, structured, slightly more polished option you carry in hand. The Marmont is the most fashion of the three, a lighter shoulder bag for going out more than hauling things around. None is better, they are just for different days.
So which
If you want a tote that does everything, the Neverfull. If you want a tidy, classic, structured shape, the Speedy. If you want a pretty, lighter shoulder bag, the Marmont. That is our read, not a rule, since this turns on your day more than on the bags. The good news is that at these prices, on resale, you are not overpaying for any of them.
