The Louis Vuitton Keepall is the house's classic soft-sided travel duffle, introduced in the 1930s and crafted first in canvas and leather, later in Monogram coated canvas. It has a cylindrical body, a full-length zip top, rolled leather handles, and a hanging padlock, built for the new age of car and air travel when lighter luggage was needed. The Bandouliere versions add a removable shoulder strap. It remains an icon of Louis Vuitton luggage and a staple of the men's and travel lines.

The case for
The coated canvas is close to indestructible. Owners describe bags from the early 1990s still in service, one thrown down flights of airport stairs, with the canvas itself unmarked.
The Bandouliere strap is the difference between a usable bag and an ornament. The top handles are too short to get over a shoulder, so loaded it is a two-hand carry without it.
Buying preloved is the common advice for this one specifically, since it is luggage and takes abuse. Watch the canvas rather than the leather: Louis Vuitton will replace vachetta and hardware, but a cracked canvas is the end of the bag.
The vachetta is the part that fails. Handles and straps dry out and crack, and Louis Vuitton replaces rather than repairs, with one owner quoted several hundred dollars for a single handle.
Packed full it is genuinely heavy to walk an airport with. A striking number of owners have retired theirs to car and train trips, or perch it on a rolling case.
The strap is not comfortable for long stretches even when it fits. The sliding shoulder pad has also split at the strap opening within weeks for some owners.
Under-packed it collapses in on itself. Owners either fill the corners with soft items first or buy a base shaper, partly because the folded straps crease and crack at the midpoint.
We write these in our own words from reviews published elsewhere, then let owners here vote them up or down. Read as of July 2026. Reputation shifts, so if one of these has stopped being true, mark it out of date.
