The Bolide is Hermès's domed, structured carryall and is famous as the first leather bag to use a zipper, introduced in 1923 after Émile-Maurice Hermès secured French rights to the fastening. Designed originally for automobile travel, it has a rounded top, a trapezoidal body, two handles, and a zip that follows the curve of the bag, often with a shoulder strap. It comes in many sizes and leathers and is one of the house's oldest continuously made designs.
