Alexander McQueen
The Alexander McQueen story
A Savile Row-trained tailor who brought couture cutting to a London label of his own.
London, 1992. Lee Alexander McQueen founded his namesake house and showed in London before later moving to Paris.
Trained on Savile Row. He left school at 16 to apprentice on Savile Row, cutting at Anderson & Sheppard then Gieves & Hawkes, the tailoring that shaped his sharp construction.
The skull, since 2003. The skull-print silk scarf, first made in 2003, became the most recognised McQueen accessory.
