The Story

The little bag tucked under the arm like a loaf of bread, and arguably the first It bag.

Origin

Carried like a loaf of bread

Silvia Venturini Fendi designed the Baguette in 1997 as a reaction to the big, minimalist bags of the decade. She wanted something small and tactile, made to be tucked under the arm like a French baguette, which is how it got its shape and its name.

Culture

It's not a bag, it's a Baguette

Carrie Bradshaw's line in Sex and the City turned the bag into a must-have and helped make it, for many, the very first It bag.

Fendi authentication: The markers worth checking
The FF print is the most-copied part of a Fendi, so the read is in the execution: the logo geometry, the warm Zucca tone, the flat-head clasp screws, and the serial-to-NFC era timeline. Markers to weigh, not the logo.
