The Gucci Ophidia is a line introduced by Alessandro Michele for the Cruise 2018 collection, drawing on the house's 1970s archive. It is defined by the green-red-green Web stripe running across a soft, often domed body in GG Supreme canvas, paired with an antiqued round Double G logo. The line spans shoulder bags, camera bags, totes, and backpacks, all carrying a retro travel-luggage feel. It became one of Michele's signature everyday Gucci families.

The case for
GG Supreme is coated canvas, not leather, and for a lot of owners that is the appeal. It wipes clean, handles rain, and a five-year owner reports no real wear to the canvas itself.
It reads vintage Gucci rather than new Gucci. The web stripe and the small oval logo carry it, and owners say it makes jeans and a shirt look considered without shouting a label.
It is light for the size. Owners who say they cannot carry a heavy bag single this one out, loaded and worn crossbody all day without their shoulder complaining.
Corners are the weak point. Owners report the coating lifting at an edge after two or three wears, and the dome shape gets singled out because its folded corners take the friction.
The coating fails by chemistry as well as by knocks. A repair house that restores these says heat and humidity break the polymer down, and that sunscreen and hand sanitiser dissolve it on contact.
The QC lottery is real on this line. One buyer went through four pieces for glued lining, crooked panels and unstitched web, and others rejected a lopsided logo or a lumpy patch in the coating on arrival.
The leather trim gives out before the canvas does. Owners report the brown trim rubbing off a tote's bottom corners within a few months, and discolouring on the trim over longer ownership.
The chain has no leather pad. On the shoulder it starts to dig in over a long day, so owners treat it as a going-out strap and use the web strap for anything that involves walking.
We write these in our own words from reviews published elsewhere, then let owners here vote them up or down. Read as of July 2026. Reputation shifts, so if one of these has stopped being true, mark it out of date.
