The Saint-Louis is Goyard's signature tote and its most recognizable bag, a lightweight, unlined, reversible shopping tote in the hand-painted Goyardine chevron canvas. Sotheby's dates the design to the 1930s, when it was conceived as a beach bag, which makes it far older than the resellers' usual comparison, the 2007 Louis Vuitton Neverfull. It has no closure and almost no metal hardware, just leather handles and trim, and comes in PM and GM sizes. Because a clean single launch year is not documented, we leave the year unset.
